Redwood Heights offers easy access to some of the East Bay’s best recreational parks.  Nearby Redwood Regional Park covers over 1,800 acres of beautifully networked trails for hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers. Within minutes you can enjoy breathtaking views, from open meadows, to streams and magnificent groves of redwood and oak. There are three equestrian centers for boarding and riding near the entrance to Redwood Park.

The Neighborhood Feel of Redwood Heights

In Redwood Heights you’ll find primarily middle-class, young families with children, along with many “empty nesters” still living in their original homes. Their Neighborhood Association has been active since 1944 and is dedicated to community advocacy and inclusiveness. Families tend to stay for generations in their homes; Redwood Heights offers a sense of stability, community and family life.  You’ll likely meet active and friendly neighbors at Redwood Heights Recreation Center. It has programs for all ages, from movement to arts and summer day-camp programs. Another nearby recreational option is Avenue Terrace Park which has a playground and basketball courts.  Finally, Chabot Space and Science Center, located on nearby Skyline Blvd., has an active observatory, a planetarium, and a variety of interactive exhibits.

Homes in the Redwood Heights neighborhood were developed mostly in the 1930s-1950s with a variety of architectural styles including English Tudor, Traditional and Ranch-style homes, some offering stunning views of the Bay. Home prices in Redwood Heights range from $600’s to $800’s.

Schools in the area include Redwood Heights Elementary School which has a recreation center that serves as an after-school daycare, Bret Harte Middle School, St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic School, Oakland Senior High School, and Head-Royce School – a K-12, independent college preparatory school.  For degree and community programs, Mills College, Merritt College, and Holy Names University are in the area.
